Poland:

Papusza and the legends

In Poland our aim was to gain knowledge about Papusza – a great Romani poet from Gorzów and explore the world of the local legends about the cities of Gorzów, PoznaÅ„ and Zielona Góra.

We began our meeting on Monday the 6th of March. The Erasmus+ students and teachers from 6 countries met at the Polish school for the welcoming ceremony. The meeting was opened by the headmistress Mrs Jolanta Sikora and the special guests of the goverment:

  • a representative of Lubusz Head of the Province, the General Director of Voivode Office  - Mr Roman Sondej

  • a Chief Inspector of School at Regional Level – Mrs Ewa Rawa

A wonderful performance prepared by the teachers and students of Gimnazjum 13 and a special music show titled "Music Connects Nations" also took place as a part of the ceremony. The representatives of the local press and media were also present (Gazeta Lubuska, TVP Gorzów, Radio Plus).

After the opening students from each country presented different aspects of the Polish culture. In the evening the teachers took part in the cooking workshops on the traditional Polish cuisine.

On Tuesday Erasmus+ team went on the sightseeing trip to the city of PoznaÅ„ (the detailed plan of the trip is provided below).

On Wednesday each country presented their work on Papusza and the legends about Gorzów, PoznaÅ„ and Zielona Góra. Later on, we took part in a unique type of entertainment - a city game. The students task was to find the mysterious places marked on the map, took pictures and read information about them. The places were connected with Papusza's life and legends about Gorzów. On Wednesday evening, together with the parents we organised a party. The guests could taste the Polish dishes prepared by the parents, watch the talent show, take part in an international karaoke contest, do their best in the pottery workshops and enjoy our special guests performance - a gypsy band "Romani CierheÅ„" life show.

On Thursday we visited Ochla Ethnographic Museum and went sightseeing Zielona Góra (the detailed plan of the trip is provided below).

On Friday, the closing ceremony took place. We also ate our last lunch together and sang some goodbye songs hoping to see each other once again in the future.

As you can see it was a fruitful week! The photos and the detailed plan can be seen  below :)
